Hi, I'm Dave - Your Fellow Trader
I'm Dave - a semi-retired software engineer who loves my sons, my dog Petra, and getting out into nature. I also love trading futures, both through prop firms and my personal cash account.
To be completely transparent: I'm not very good at trading yet, but I'm learning and improving. The journey has taught me discipline, emotional control, and patience - lessons that improve every aspect of life. I'm in this for the long haul.
As I developed my trading skills, I realized I needed better tools. Tools to track performance, monitor risk, and analyze what's working and what isn't.
Given software engineering is something I am very good at, I initially built TradeDog for myself. Now I'm sharing it for free with all traders so that everyone can have quality free tools to further their trading journey.

Petra is the heart and soul of Happy Dog Trading. She's the inspiration behind our name and our beloved mascot who keeps us motivated through every market session - whether we're winning or learning!
As our Chief TradeDog Officer, Petra takes her supervisory role seriously - she thoughtfully leads every code review, provides positive encouragement at all our planning meetings, and promotes the highest level of quality assurance with her unwavering support. Her contributions to the team are invaluable, yet she is happy to work for doggo treats. We are deeply grateful to have her on our team!

I love the community that surrounds futures prop trading. Ok, well most of it at least - there are some who are shady or embrace too much drama (for my personal tastes) - but that is life everywhere these days. The majority, however, are solid cool people and many of them have helped me on my learning path -- and I want to give back and serve our community too.
HappyDogTrading.com is that effort - to serve the futures and prop firm trading communities.
My plan is to keep all our tools free and eventually support the site through donations and/or affiliate commissions when you use our prop firm codes. Using our codes often gets you the highest discounts currently available. [we don't have any codes at the moment... just getting going]
